How the switching works:
Short description:
4 separate, three-terminal, SPDT, momentary switches operating in
pairs
. Pressing the lever in one direction toggles only two of the four SPDT switches. Pressing the lever in the other direction toggles the other two SPDT switches.
Longer Description:
This switch has a really clever momentary switching matrix which makes it extremely versatile. There are four SPDT switches operating in pairs. When the lever is in the center rest position, each individual section has an open terminal and a closed terminal, just like a typical SPDT. But the neat trick is when you pull the lever
up
from center,
only two sections toggle
; the other two sections remain unchanged. When you push the lever
down
from the center rest position, the
other two sections toggle
leaving the first two unchanged.
One customer wrote me and said these were "useless". He had to be kidding! I say he had no imagination. You can use just one half as a SPST, SPDT, DPST, DPDT - and that doesn't even begin to describe the novel switching action and actual applications, limited only by
your
imagination!
